25 MILLION PEOPLE IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA ARE AFFECTED

BY A FORM OF AVOIDABLE BLINDNESS

TOGETHER WE GIVE SIGHT
OF A BETTER FUTURE

OUR GOAL AND VISION

Working together to eliminate avoidable blindness, that’s what we’re going for.

Light for the World Belgium ensures sustainable quality care for everyone and fights for the inclusion of people with a visual impairment in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a recognized Belgian NGO, we provide accessible eye care and promote inclusive education.

Local partner organisations  are at the heart of Light for the World’s programmes. In the DR Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania, we support them financially, technically and organisationally.  In this way, we guarantee together the best possible service to people with a visual impairment.

OUR VALUES

RESPECT

We treat everyone in their individuality with mutual respect.

INVOLVEMENT

We feel connected and committed to others. We stand up for human rights and the full participation of people with a visual impairment. We strive for sustainable development and involve all stakeholders.

PROFESSIONALISM

We have the expertise and competences to put our goal into practice in the most effective way. We improve and share our best-in-class model that meets quality standards. We do this by establishing sustainable partnerships.

IMPACT

We impact the quality of life and rights of people with visual impairments. We focus on breaking down barriers, performing cataract surgeries, fighting childhood blindness and refractive errors and provide pairs of glasses.
